I advise engineers to focus on areas they enjoy working in — not just the latest tech. If you enjoy networking, focus on networking and become the best at it. That philosophy is the foundation of AzureNetSec.
Background
Dr. Kevin Jellow is an information technology professional with over 20 years of experience, spending the last decade at Microsoft. His career there began as an Exchange Consultant with Microsoft Consulting Services, deploying Microsoft Exchange for multiple global enterprise customers. During the summer of 2012, Kevin made a decisive shift — pivoting his focus entirely to Microsoft Azure at a pivotal moment in the platform's enterprise adoption.
That early move into Azure, combined with years of customer-facing work at Microsoft, positioned Kevin at the cutting edge of cloud infrastructure. He progressed from Cloud Solutions Architect to a Global Black Belt — focusing on Azure VMware Solutions across the Americas — one of the most senior and specialised technical roles in Microsoft's field organisation.
Kevin is a native of Jamaica, returning there regularly to enjoy what he describes as "the lush tropic atmosphere, crystal-clear beaches, and his native Jerk chicken and Red Stripe." That grounded perspective — knowing what matters and what doesn't — comes through in everything published on AzureNetSec.
Published Work
Beyond his work at Microsoft, Dr. Kevin Jellow is a published technical author with Packt Publishing, one of the world's leading technology publishers. His book brings the same practitioner-first depth that defines his career at Microsoft.
In a Packt author interview, Kevin described his approach: the research was minimal because this is the technology he works on every day at Microsoft. That authentic practitioner-first perspective defines both the book and AzureNetSec.

Why AzureNetSec
AzureNetSec grew out of something Kevin observed consistently across customer engagements — the same fundamental Azure network security questions coming up over and over. How do Azure Firewall and NSGs relate? What does Zero Trust actually look like in a production environment? When does a third-party NGFW make sense?
The answers exist in Microsoft's documentation but are scattered, often written for feature explanation rather than practical implementation, and rarely come with the honest trade-offs that only emerge from real enterprise deployments. AzureNetSec bridges that gap — bringing Global Black Belt depth to engineers who need to make real decisions in real environments.
